The book "Einstein Never Used Flash Cards" looks great! I've never heard of it but after reading the summary of the book, I am very interested in it. I believe children at this age learn best through play.
I watched the video Myth of Praise from the Nurtureshock.com website. This was such an eye opener. After viewing, I realized that by giving the praise you are so smart, children are then looking for that extrinsic reward - parents being proud of them. The child who chose to do the harder test, had intrinsic reward even though he scored low. The test was a challenge for him and he was proud of himself for the accomplishment. I actually watched this video twice. Thanks for sharing this website!
Mahitab you always find the most intersting books. I really like this book in that it doesn't emphasize the drill, drill, drill method as I was taught years ago, but rather an interactive way to keep kids involved in learning. I find that kids do best when they are actively engaged. Once again, THANKS!
Nurture Shock seems like an interesting book - I plan to investigate it further. Thanks for sharing
I am going to have to research the Albert Eistein book. I am interested in different ways children can grasp new ideas. Thanks
